WHY APPLY FOR VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR?

My role involves arranging DSB drop-ins for volunteers and ensuring that all volunteers going into schools have the correct safeguarding and DBS certification. I am also responsible for updating information regarding the number of sessions volunteers have attended as well as if they have completed the online OpenMinds ‘test’ (used to support volunteers’ understanding of the subjects covered in the training sessions).

I allocate volunteers to school sessions and make sure everyone gets the opportunity to take part in the delivery of the workshops. Management of all this requires good organisation and reasonably adept Excel skills due to the vast numbers of volunteers. As the name of the role suggests, I am there to support and give advice to volunteers regarding any part of the process. I have thoroughly enjoyed holding this position, interacting with the volunteers and working with the rest of the committee.
