WHY APPLY FOR FACILITATOR?

Open Mind facilitators help to provide volunteers the skills they need to deliver sessions in schools. In the role as a facilitator you will plan and deliver the second half of the crash courses and help to plan the lessons we will deliver in schools. You will also, along with the rest of the committee members, help to lead groups of volunteers in the school sessions- making sure everyone knows what they’re doing, organising transport to the school sessions, and making sure the sessions go okay and to the right timings.

The role of facilitator is really fun as you can help both the volunteers and in the school sessions, so you really get involved with Open Minds and what it aims to do! I’ve made loads of friends through Open Minds and have had so much fun doing something that I am really passionate about- educating children about mental health and reducing stigma!

Being a facilitator has really helped to improve my public speaking skills and I really enjoy talking and presenting to large groups now. It has also helped improve my leadership skills, and gain experience relevant to a future career in mental health and working with children.
